Stress Management

Particularly in today’s economic climate, stress management has become essential, and counseling can help. Stress takes a toll on our sense of wellbeing, our relationships, and our health, through:

  • Worries about job security;
  • Time pressures in an overcrowded schedule;
  • Inability to keep up with a growing “to do” list;
  • The demands of managing work and family.

The most common approach to managing these stressors is to just keep pushing through, holding on until that next vacation gives us a brief chance to replenish ourselves. But the truth is that stress is much easier to deal with as it arises rather than after it has already grown to crushing proportions. Our health is best maintained by tending to our stress a little bit each day.

I support people’s efforts to manage both regular, day-to-day stressors as well as crisis-related stress through teaching simple but effective tools you can use either in a systematic way or “on the spot” in the midst of a stressful situation. No one technique is right for everyone, and we will work together to identify those tools that are most effective for you. I will also work with you to strategize how you can make these tools a regular part of your busy life.
